today is the shortest day of the year, and the longest night, for those of us in the northern hemisphere. the sun moves into capricorn tonight at 10:08 pst. this is a very good time to set your goals and intentions for the upcoming year. the recent allignments of pluto, mercury and jupitor with the galactic center, has i am sure, stirred up some powerful change, introspection and insights from the depths of your soul. saturn has just moved retrograde in virgo, this energy helps us simplify, improve or eliminate anything in our lives that has become unessential or unproductive. let all this stuff go......what will you do with this info? is it time to embrace change? honor the horned one tonight, for this is the time. dance your sacred spiral, and walk that labyrinth to the depths of your soul. form a circle of love with all of us, spiraling around and around our planet and our hearts.
may you all have a blessed solstice..........
love you all!

Re: how did you celebrate the solstice?
Fri, December 21, 2007 - 10:17 AMpart of my blessing will be in taking part in a fire spinning and burn party<fire spinning party> in New Hampshire> Sharing some great laughs. Watching some killer fire preformances, and taking some wonderful workshops on staff and juggling fire in boston. The blessing of fire as the bring back of the Light.
Personally, I'll be doing a dawn ritual. Asking my body and myself forgiveness for the negativity held onto through the year. As well as setting goals and hopes and intentions for the year.

Fri, December 21, 2007 - 8:22 PMSolstice ?? wtf???
It's not solstice down under!!!
I'm keeping the Northern tradition of being 'hemisphere centric in my thinking', so yes there is no solstice at the moment!

Re: how did you celebrate the solstice?
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 11:47 AMThe Spiral Dance at the Community Center - not as many attended as last year, maybe 175-200 only, as there are various plagues going around the area (which I shall not be getting any of, thank goodness) - performed with my dance teacher and 7 students a quasi-hula, little story-telling thing about our community, to the music of Stevie Wonder's "Love's in need of love today" - as usual, the teacher changed the choreo right up to 10 minutes before performance time (she always does), and then she herself got confused and messed up, which we all dealt with just fine with improv, and then I also fucked up by doing the third section that she'd just cut before showtime, but I had so much fun doing it, and I guess that was my little solo, lol! The audience really liked our dance. I'll have pics up probably Thursday as only a professional photographer was allowed to take pics. Lots of entertainment, it's a huge deal around here. Then out with some friends who just insisted on a glass of wine, then bolted home to catch the 10:08 meditation for the solstice which I'd promised to participate in. I couldn't get down very well, of course, after 1/2 glass of wine and driving like the wind, but the full moon was shining right through the skylight down on my bed and with the candles and that I got down enough to feel I was part of it. Then, as is typical, couldn't sleep for hours and hours, too much stimulation - the price I pay for a social life. Since then I feel like the weird little depression I've had for a couple of months has vanished and I feel enthusiastic about things again. This for me is the actual start of the new year each year -- last year I knew it was going to be an extra special year, and I have the same feeling again - but want it to be more peaceful this time. Had just a tad too much chaos this year!

Re: how did you celebrate the solstice?
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 8:50 PMI spent solstice at the Coven of the Mystic Maple with 17 or 18 people. We were visited my the Goddess Isis. The Oak King and the Holy King had their duel. The Holy King was vanquished but not before handing out presents to all the attendees. I portrayed the Maiden Goddess. The Maid, Mother and Crone Goddesses went around to all the attendees. The Maiden Goddess blessed everyone's feet. The Mother Goddess blessed everyone's pelvis. The Crone Goddess blessed everyone's head. We ignited a bonfire and burned the Yule log along with various offerings. We feasted and had a Chinese auction. Afterwards, the High Priestess and I firespun for everyone by the bonfire. It was the High Priestess's birthday so we all went to a local tavern to celebrate. It was a very inspired evening.

Re: how did you celebrate the solstice?
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 10:07 AMi celebrated the solstice in bellingham with a large "new" (to me) group of people. it was pretty cool to do something out of my normal yule traditions. the circle was large and quite different from what i have been used to, it was nice to see so many new faces. every year, a group of friends gets together for a santa lucia party the week before solstice. the kids love it, characters like 'greenman', 'gnomes', and of course "santa lucia" shows up with candles on her head, bearing cookies for all. mermaids have been known to show up with gifts for everyone. my favorite party of the year for sure.......ok so onto the solstice celebration. this circle i attended was really different than the circle i usually go to, there were no words spoken. the ritual was acted out with your body which was cool, but i was missing the power of spoken words. everyone danced in the returning of the light together at the close of the circle. it was fun to do something different this year, but i was missing the traditional sacred spiral dance, walking of the labryinth, drum circle, seperation of the men and woman for the first half of ritual where the men bring in the yule tree while we dance to greet them. im so old fashioned!!! lol. afterwards, this year i came home to island to do a two hour meditation with a new twin goddess lemurian seed wand that a friend had gifted me that day. earlier on the solstice, i had decided that i am going to start doing "couples" crystal laying of the stones and energy work on their auras together. i then go to the post office and find the twin wand, that is perfect for working with couples. the universe provides so quickly when we are tuning in. i had a chance to work with the wand on the full moon with a couple clients, and it is very powerful and works on the outer layers of the aura........loving the synchronicity the solstice brought me this year. looking forward to the next year unfolding, transformation is everywhere i look.
